Mindfulness in the Workplace

Learn practical mindfulness tools and techniques to reduce your stress in (and out of) the workplace, improve focus and productivity, enjoy job satisfaction and overall wellbeing.

Businesses today operate in turbulent and challenging times, and workplace culture calls people to be always on, connected, work non-stop with pressing deadlines, do more with less, and achieve success in a way that could end up in stress, absenteeism, dissatisfaction, and burnout.

The Mindfulness in the Workplace program teaches participants practical tools and techniques to use mindfulness to reduce their levels of stress and anxiety in (and out of) the workplace.  Hundreds of scientific studies demonstrate that mindfulness fosters insight and creative thinking, increases employee concentration and performance, improves decision-making, and enables them to be more relaxed, happier, healthier, and more creative.

DESCRIPTION

SESSION 1: Waking up to the autopilot

The course starts with becoming aware of our tendency to operate on automatic pilot. We practice paying attention in new ways and exploring the freedom to engage with life more skillfully. We also become aware of our breathing and use it to direct our awareness to different aspects of our lives.

SESSION 2: Keeping the body in mind

In this session, we learn to experience the world through our senses and not through ‘our head’. We explore how the body can be an anchor to the present and a radar for important messages without judging, comparing, and getting lost in thoughts about the past or the future.

SESSION 3: A broader perspective

When we work too hard for too long, we are trapped in our sense of responsibility and perfectionism, and any attempt to escape can backfire. This week we experience how our mind works, we let space for intense sensations and discomfort, and we watch them dissolve as we build the ability to transform the ordinary to extraordinary.

SESSION 4: Moving beyond the rumor mill

In this session, we practice seeing thoughts as creations of the mind rather than facts. We learn how we can see more clearly, recognize the habit of mind to make interpretations, and realize the immense freedom we have to take more skillful decisions when the thoughts are not mastering our mind.

SESSION 5: Accepting and allowing difficulty, becoming resilient
This session builds on the first four with the invitation to turn towards and befriend aspects of our experience that we dislike or may typically avoid and resist. We accept that “it’s ok to be like this” for now. This is a powerful response that helps us to see clearly and to build resilience.

SESSION 6: Cultivating friendship to ourselves and others

Being friends with ourselves and others can be wonderful and challenging! The latter is even more so when we get caught in our feelings and thoughts for things that happened in the past and we still carry with us. In this session we open up to impermanence, discovering the freedom and happiness that comes with it and benefits everyone.

SESSION 7: Rebalancing our lives

In this session, we reflect on how we can choose what we do and how we act to nourish ourselves every day. We explore the connection between our daily routines, behavior, and mood, and we learn how to approach some unavoidable depleting activities in a different way.

SESSION 8: Mindfulness & your wild and precious life

This week is “the rest of your life”. We celebrate your learnings and we reflect on what you are taking from the program. We share how mindfulness may fit in the rest of your lives without another “should” or “ought to”. Life is the curriculum and mindfulness is our power to meet with anything that comes on our way!
